WILLEMSTAD – The neighborhood team from Weto is currently leading the ‘From Street to Stadium’ social football competition, organized by Fundashon Bicentini. With seventeen wins in eighteen matches and an impressive total of nearly eighty goals, Weto has built a strong lead. However, the competition remains fierce, with teams from Fuik and Rooi Santu close behind.
More Than Just Football
The project involves fourteen neighborhoods, where teams earn points not only for their on-field performances but also for their social initiatives. Beyond football, teams are rewarded for their community involvement, organizing activities such as cleanup projects, charity events, and even fundraising bake sales. The organization values originality and dedication to community service as much as athletic success.
Building Stronger Communities
According to project founder Remko Bicentini, the initiative extends beyond winning matches.
“This competition is about much more than just sports; it strengthens community bonds and brings people of all ages together,” Bicentini stated.
He emphasized that while the final score matters, the team spirit, unity, and social impact are at the heart of the project.
With its motto “Participation is more important than winning,” Fundashon Bicentini highlights that social achievements are just as valuable as sporting victories. Regardless of who ultimately takes the championship, the true success of the project lies in the connection and joy it brings to each neighborhood.
