Weather tropical weather system on its way to Caribbean

Local | By Correspondent October 3, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Two weather systems are currently developing in the Atlantic Ocean, one of which could potentially become a threat to the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.

It is still disorganized with rain and thunderstorms and forms a tropical wave hundreds of kilometers east of the Caribbean islands.

Gradual development is possible over the next few days, while the system is still moving west at a speed of 25 to 32 kilometers per hour. By the middle of next week, this system will reach the eastern Caribbean Sea. The chances of formation are not considered high in the next two to five days.

The situation is different for the second system, which is currently several hundred kilometers south of the Cape Verde islands. Lots of rain and thunderstorms here too. The training opportunities are considered higher in the next five days. Environmental conditions are favorable for gradual development, according to the Miami Hurricane Center, and a tropical depression is likely to form around the middle part of this week.

The system is expected to head west and then head northwest or north by the end of the week over the eastern tropical Atlantic.
