Weather-related delays impacting roadwork in Curaçao

Local | By Press release August 7, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The Public Works Service (OW) has announced that ongoing and upcoming roadwork projects may experience delays due to unfavorable weather conditions. The hurricane and rainy seasons, in particular, pose significant challenges for planning and can affect the start and progress of maintenance and construction projects on the roads.

Maintenance work on our road network is essential. However, the safety of workers and the quality of roadwork are top priorities. Weather conditions can impact construction materials, hinder machinery operations, and create unsafe working conditions, leading to the postponement and adjustment of plans.

For example, if roadwork is scheduled to begin on a specific date, unfavorable weather conditions could delay its commencement. OW closely monitors weather forecasts and will make every effort to minimize interruptions. In the event of delays, OW will promptly communicate the new schedule to ensure the public is informed.

OW appreciates the community’s understanding and patience as we navigate these weather-related challenges. OW remains dedicated to improving Curaçao's infrastructure while ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved.
