WILLEMSTAD – The Meteorological Department of Curaçao is maintaining an orange warning due to ongoing rough sea conditions along the island’s north and east coasts. Despite a gradual decrease in wind speeds, the sea remains dangerously rough, and residents are urged to remain cautious, particularly small boat operators and owners of coastal facilities.
The greatest risks are along rocky shorelines and in bays, where high waves and flooding pose a significant threat. Small boats are at risk of damage or becoming stranded, while coastal properties may experience flooding or structural harm. Authorities strongly advise against venturing out to sea and recommend maintaining a safe distance from the shoreline.
The Meteorological Department advises boat owners to secure their vessels properly and take necessary precautions to protect coastal property. Officials are closely monitoring the situation, with an updated assessment expected later today.
The orange alert was initially issued earlier this weekend and remains in effect. Conditions are expected to improve gradually over the coming days.
