Weather Alert: Rough Seas Expected Along Curaçao’s North and West Coasts

Yellow code in effect until 9:00 p.m. tonight

WILLEMSTAD - The Meteorological Department of Curaçao (Meteo) issued a yellow alert this morning, warning of rough sea conditions along the northern and western coasts of the island. The advisory remains in effect until 9:00 p.m.

According to Meteostrong winds and powerful breaking waves are expected, potentially threatening parts of the coastline and causing damage to small vessels. The agency also warned that coastal flooding may occur, posing a risk to beach facilities and seaside structures.

Meteo advised the public to take the following precautionary measures:

Small boat operators are urged to exercise extreme caution when navigating under these conditions;

Owners of coastal facilities should take protective measures where possible to prevent damage from flooding or wave impact;

Swimmers are advised to be extra cautious and avoid venturing too far from shore.

Authorities will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates if conditions worsen throughout the day.
