VVRP Employees Successfully Complete BAVPOL Training

WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Traffic, Transportation and Urban Planning (VVRP) is now even better equipped to address issues of illegality and noncompliance on the island. A group of 13 VVRP employees, including members of the Project Team for Supervision and Enforcement (PTH), have successfully completed the BAVPOL (Special Police Officer) training program. The certificate ceremony took place on Monday, October 27, 2025.

The purpose of the course was to equip ministry personnel with the skills and authority to take firm action against a range of infractions, including illegal construction, unauthorized occupation of government land, permit violations related to VVRP regulations, and irregularities in public transportation, among others.

The next step in the process will be the official swearing-in ceremony by the Minister of Justice. After this, the newly trained officers will officially serve as inspectors (“toezichthouders”) responsible for enforcing laws relevant to the ministry’s areas of jurisdiction.

Minister Charles Cooper, along with the staff and personnel of VVRP, congratulated the officials on this significant achievement. During the ceremony, Minister Cooper emphasized that the ministry will intensify efforts to crack down on illegal practices, ensuring compliance and restoring order across the island.

“We are committed to ending illegal activities and enforcing the rules so that everyone follows the same standards,” Minister Cooper stated. “In this way, we are bringing order back to our country.”
