WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning (VVRP) in Curaçao has organized specialized ArcGIS training for employees from several government services as part of its ongoing focus on innovation and professional development.
The training brought together staff from multiple departments, including the Urban Planning Service (ROP), Public Works (OW), and the Inspection and Enforcement Team (PTH).
ArcGIS is a digital Geographic Information System (GIS) that allows users to collect, analyze, and visualize geographic data through interactive digital maps.
According to the ministry, the technology supports more accurate decision-making, improved spatial planning, and more efficient use of resources.
During the training sessions, participants covered several key topics, including a general introduction to ArcGIS, management of geographic data, interpretation of digital maps, and the practical application of ArcGIS in planning and development processes.
Officials say the initiative forms part of VVRP’s broader strategy to strengthen institutional capacity by investing in the knowledge and skills of its workforce.
By expanding digital expertise within its departments, the ministry aims to improve efficiency, transparency, and service delivery to the community.
