WILLEMSTAD - An employee of the Curaçao Voluntary Corps (VKC) was convicted of theft yesterday. The manager has embezzled more than half a million in six years. He also forged an invoice worth 10,000 guilders.

The suspect used the money for his gambling addiction and to pay off his debts. In total, he transferred money to his private account 281 times. As a result, the volunteer corps was heavily indebted. The judge charged him heavily for this and imposed a higher sentence than required. The ex-manager was sentenced to 18 months in prison, 10 months of which were suspended.
