Visit of the Police Chiefs' College to Miami Dade College – School of Justice

Local | By Press release May 23, 2023

MIAMI - During the period from May 10th to 13th, some members of the Police Chiefs' College in the kingdom, including those from Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten, paid a visit to Miami Dade College – School of Justice.

This visit served various purposes. Firstly, the college wanted to learn and explore the different studies and training in the field of law enforcement that Miami Dade College provides and that are applicable in different countries.

These studies could potentially be implemented in the kingdom.

Secondly, it was important for the college to understand how these training programs relate to each other, their content, and how they can be adapted to the context of the countries. Furthermore, the college was interested in knowing when and how the American institute would start offering these studies and training programs.

Furthermore, the members of the college worked on the concept of 'train the trainer,' to see how far it is applicable in the studies and training that the bodies themselves provide. This would allow for more organized studies to be conducted by the police forces in the region.

In addition to these goals, the college addressed topics such as 'community policing' (with a focus on school resources) and 'dispatcher' (with a focus on information processing), as well as leadership studies at both tactical and strategic levels during their visit.

The Police Chiefs' College was greatly impressed by the visit and professionalism and sees Miami Dade College – School of Justice as a secure development partner for the police forces of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten.
