Vendors at Marshe Nobo must vacate by August 15

Local | By Correspondent August 12, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Vendors at the Ronde Markt in Punda, also known as Marshe Nobo, have been informed that they must vacate their stalls by Thursday due to upcoming renovations. The market vendors have expressed frustration, stating that they have been displaced to the hot square in front of the Post Office.

The sellers are disappointed as they were promised a suitable location during the renovation period. However, only a small group has been allocated a subsidized rental space, while the remaining eighty vendors must find their own alternatives.

Many vendors feel they are being treated poorly, likening their situation to being treated like dogs, and emphasize that many of them rely on their market stalls as their primary source of income.

The renovation of Marshe Nobo is expected to last approximately nine months, leaving vendors concerned about how they will sustain themselves during this period.
