WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Business Association, the VBC, sees nothing in the government's plans to raise the minimum wage.
Next January, the government wants to adjust it by 2.7 percent. The reason is the economic contraction and rising unemployment on Curaçao. The VBC wants these factors to be taken into account and not just the inflation correction.
The minimum wages should be frozen as far as the VBC is concerned. More attention to employment instead of improving working conditions, according to the VBC.
