WILLEMSTAD – The management of Autobusbedrijf Curaçao (ABC) has temporarily suspended bus route 10B, which runs between Punda, Bonam, and Brievengat, following yet another vandalism incident. It marks the third time unknown individuals have targeted ABC buses on this route by throwing stones and glass bottles—one of which shattered a window.
In light of the safety concerns, passengers are now being advised to use route 10A, which travels a nearly identical path from Brievengat to Bonam, departing from the Post in Otrobanda.
Local police have apprehended the individuals responsible for the acts of vandalism. It was confirmed that the perpetrators were minors.
Authorities are expected to take firm action against the behavior of these youths in the coming days. ABC buses have been frequent targets of such attacks in the past, leading the company to suspend some routes during evening hours for safety reasons.
Officials are calling on parents to take greater responsibility for supervising their children, particularly those roaming the streets and engaging in dangerous activities.
Beyond the material damage, such incidents pose serious safety risks. Flying glass can injure passengers, and startled drivers may lose control, potentially causing accidents.
ABC has not yet announced when route 10B will resume, but the company emphasizes that ensuring the safety of passengers and staff remains its top priority.
