WILLEMSTAD - The immediate establishment of a new game of chance authority, a topic under discussion for some time, is deemed essential. This was the key conclusion reached during the third seminar organized by Comtado Carib, an organization providing investigative support in the Caribbean region of the Kingdom.
The gaming sector in Curaçao has faced ongoing criticism due to insufficient oversight. Consequently, various entities within the sector can operate without adequate scrutiny, resulting in fraud and diverse forms of money laundering, as highlighted in the seminar. Technological advancements have anonymized the origins of payment transactions, making it challenging to identify the culprits involved.
Comtado Carib emphasizes that such practices are widespread, further emphasizing the crucial role of a gambling authority. "The alarming risks of money laundering necessitate immediate action," stated Comtado Carib. This seminar marked the third in a series of six meetings, with the conclusions supported by guest speakers, including researchers.
