WILLEMSTAD - General Pension Fund Curaçao (APC) has bought the Plaza Hotel. With that statement, APC puts an end to all speculation after this morning's auction. The hotel was then bought by financial expert Edgard Lotman. Now it appears he has bought the hotel on behalf of APC. APC director Eveline Kruithof-Bor was also present at the auction.
"The Plaza Hotel is a great asset in our city center, which is part of the Fund's domestic investment portfolio. APC strives for a development that preserves the character of the Unesco World Heritage, but that also adds value to the product city center Curaçao and that ultimately contributes to the local economy," APC said in a statement.
Despite the difficult times and challenges that Curaçao is currently experiencing, APC says it has confidence in the economy. It hopes to make a positive contribution to the economy with the purchase and development of the area.
With the purchase, APC says it wants to demonstrate its confidence and thus want to convince other investors.
