Update COVID-19: Curaçao fights against coronavirus

WILLEMSTAD - This morning during the daily update of coronavirus cases, epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth again confirmed that there were 4 infections on the island. But this was already announced yesterday. There are no new infection confirmations as of today. 108 people are being monitored, 92 are now considered safe.

Gerstenbluth explains that not everyone is actively monitored. Because measuring a fever is not effective, paracetamol can make a difference. More testing costs a lot of money and resources are scarce. Most countries work this way, the doctor explained. People who arrive receive information and are called to see if they have symptoms. That has been more than 1200 people since the borders were closed.

Dr. Gerstenbluth says that they monitor people for up to 14 days, then they complete monitoring if the persons have no symptoms.

Curaçao Chronicle held an exclusive interview with Dr. Gerstenbluth. This interview will be on the website later today.
