WILLEMSTAD - Epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth just confirmed that another person tested positive for the COVID 19 virus. There is now a total of 10 confirmed infections. One has died, two are safe and 7 are active. Two have been hospitalized. The 2 unclear tests that were announced yesterday resulted in negative. The doctor also indicated that they have monitored 189 people and there are still 33 who must remain in quarantine.
Dr. Gerstenbluth said that the tenth infection is probably a local infection. He is not sure yet, but it does indicate this. This means, according to the doctor, that the situation has become more serious, the virus is more difficult to limit in case of local infection.
First day of curfew
According to police spokesperson Imro Zwerver 15 people were stopped on the street during the first day of curfew. Not everyone knew there was a curfew, some were on their way to work.
The police also have a new number which is 524-2480 where anyone can report if the rules are broken. Currently, these cases are reported via the local number 917 but that line is too busy.”
Zwever also indicated that there was one store that had to be closed and people were on the street for no reason. “We acted. We are going to intensify checks on curfew.”
Fours youngsters had fled from Brasami. They are already in police’s custody.
Also, five young people were arrested for throwing rocks at police cars.
