WILLEMSTAD - The government has unjustly removed the deputy head of veterinary affairs from her position, a ruling made by the court this week. The official had held this role for over 10 years, with no previous complaints about her performance. The issue arose when her supervisor instructed her to euthanize two French Bulldogs.
The dogs were given a lethal injection within 24 hours of their arrival from the Dominican Republic. This caused significant public outcry. Both she and her supervisor were suspended, and in July of last year, she was demoted. According to the government, there was a breach of trust, but this was not sufficiently justified. Therefore, the court concluded that the woman was unjustly removed from her position.
