WILLEMSTAD - The University of Curaçao (UoC) is collaborating with the Inter-Continental University of the Caribbean (ICUC) on a large-scale scientific study of carnival on Curaçao. The research is commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport (OWCS).
The study focuses on both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of carnival. Its findings are expected to provide a deep understanding of the current state of the festival and its future possibilities.
The research was announced during the second Simposio Karnaval Kòrsou 2024, held on Monday at the Renaissance Hotel. The evening primarily involved exchanging ideas on how to further develop carnival.
In addition to conducting the research, the universities will engage various stakeholders from educational institutions who can contribute to the study.
