WILLEMSTAD – For the 19th edition of the Ride, Walk, Run, and Swim for the Roses event on January 26, Kukudushi, a social initiative with a sustainable mission, is making a special contribution to the cause. Kukudushi is offering specially crafted "Kompayon" keychains that not only feature the Ride for the Roses logo but also highlight the efforts of cancer survivors. These survivors participated in Kukudushi’s workshop to help assemble the keychains.
The keychains, priced at 35 guilders each, include an embedded chip that allows users to track the journey of the turtle “Hope” in the region, as well as that of dolphins or whales. These keychains are not only symbolically meaningful but also highly sought after. Last year, Kukudushi successfully sold a similar charm featuring a local Curaçao seashell, which also allowed users to follow Hope's journey.
Sales of the keychains will take place at various Ride events. Starting January 20, they will be available at the garden of main sponsor Orco Bank, where registration and T-shirt distribution will also occur. Proceeds from the keychains will benefit the Ride for the Roses foundation, which is dedicated to cancer research and prevention.
Kukudushi combines creativity with social impact, aiming for inclusivity, environmental improvement, and support for local communities by creating jobs for those who need them most. Its products, crafted by skilled local artisans, are particularly popular among cruise tourists. Since last year, Ride for the Roses has been one of the charities benefiting from Kukudushi's proceeds.
