WILLEMSTAD – The civil servants’ union ABVO is working to restore calm at Curaçao House in The Hague, following weeks of internal tensions. ABVO board member Kenneth Bremer has begun mediation talks with Minister Plenipotentiary Carlson Manuel (MFK), acting director Martha Semil, and staff members.
The intervention comes after a period of friction between the minister and employees, which also prompted questions from members of Parliament in Curaçao. According to Bremer, the goal is to gain clarity on the root causes of the problems and to help facilitate a workable solution for all parties involved.
Recent developments at Curaçao House include the appointment of Martha Semil as acting director and the suspension of two staff members. These moves have added to the sense of unease among employees.
ABVO hopes the mediation will restore stability and prevent further escalation at the Curaçao government’s representative office in the Netherlands.
