WILLEMSTAD – The Council of Ministers has received a presentation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on plans to update Curaçao’s National Development Plan (NOP), which provides a long-term framework for the country’s sustainable development.
The presentation was delivered by Ugo Blanco, Resident Representative of the UNDP Multi-Country Office for Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten, and Javier Bronfman, Senior Consultant at UNDP.
They were accompanied by Luelo Girigorie, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Economic Development.
During the meeting, ministers were briefed on the proposed update of the National Development Plan adopted in 2015. The plan builds on Curaçao’s long-term vision, which was established by the former Island Council in 2006.
The NOP serves as a strategic framework for Curaçao’s long-term sustainable development and is intended to guide national priorities and policymaking.
The UNDP delegation also included Isele Robinson-Cooper, Ana Hernandez and Makesi Peter.
The government did not provide details on what specific changes are being considered for the updated plan or when the revised National Development Plan is expected to be completed.
