WILLEMSTAD - Undocumented immigrants have escaped from the new immigration detention center once again. This time, it concerns four Venezuelan men. The security personnel heard an explosion around one o'clock at night.
When they investigated, the four undocumented immigrants had fled. The preliminary investigation revealed that they had detached the fixture of their cell and damaged the metal wire of the airspace. The search for the four escaped men continued throughout the night and will continue today. The authorities are also investigating how the men managed to break out of their cells.
The detention center has been operational since November last year and was renovated with funding from the Dutch government. However, this is not the first time that undocumented immigrants have managed to escape from the facility.
