WILLEMSTAD - There is currently no clarity regarding the extension of the heat protocol for schools on the island. Friday marks the last school day before the midterm vacation, but it remains uncertain whether the shortened schedule will continue after the break.
Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Sithree 'Cey' van Heydoorn, hopes to provide more clarity during the holiday.
Previously, van Heydoorn implemented measures to combat the heat, allowing students to wear modified school uniforms. Additionally, schools for foundational education have been closing at 12 PM, and the timetable for secondary education has been shortened to accommodate the rising temperatures.
