WILLEMSTAD - Tension has arisen following the resignation of former Minister of Finance Javier Silvania (MFK), amid reports of an alleged investigation involving him. According to a press release issued by the governing party MFK, Silvania stepped down due to an ongoing investigation — though the exact nature and status of that investigation remain unclear.
The public, however, is demanding transparency, especially given the seriousness of the alleged accusations. Director of the Tax Receiver’s Office (Ontvanger), Alfonso Trona, reportedly stated that the former minister was “guilty of certain actions.” The report emphasized that this remark has made the issue even more sensitive.
“The people are asking for clarity to prevent speculation,” the outlet continued, “and they want to know whether the justice system is actually investigating the matter and in what manner.”
Both the media and members of the public are calling for transparency, stressing that openness is essential to maintaining trust in Curaçao’s democratic and legal institutions.
