UBO Registration Deadline Approaching for Organizations in Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – The transitional period for existing organizations in Curaçao to register their Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs) ends in early July 2025, the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) announced in a press release.

The UBO Register, introduced in June 2024, aims to increase transparency and combat financial crimes, including money laundering and tax evasion. All existing legal entities and structures — including foundations, companies, associations, trusts, and similar organizations, even foreign ones with a branch in Curaçao — are required to register their UBOs before the July deadline.

Publicly listed companies are the only exception. Newly established entities must register their UBOs within two weeks of incorporation through a notary.

Since May 2025, the KvK has launched a digital portal on its website for submitting UBO declarations. This replaces the previous method of submitting registrations via email, which is now used solely for inquiries.

“The KvK manages the UBO register. Only authorized government agencies may access it for supervision or investigative purposes,” the Chamber of Commerce stated.
