Two new radio stations for Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao will have two new radio stations. This was announced by the Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning (VVRP), Zita Jesus-Leito (PAR).

These are already existing radio frequencies that were manned by stations that stopped them and were awarded new initiatives following a public tender.

For example, 90.0 FM goes to Remy Juliet's House of Worship Foundation and "due to the large number of entries" it has been decided to give 90.3 FM to Francis Kenepa's Fundashon Yave Station.

When asked whether there are not enough radio stations and killing the competition, the minister replies that she is not going to risk adapting the media policy at this time.

The minister states that there are now six religious channels, but none of them represent the Catholic faith. There is no longer any room for that, even though the diocese has indicated that it is interested.
