WILLEMSTAD - Two people were killed in a serious traffic accident on Monday evening on Santa Rosaweg, near Landhuis Bloemhof, according to the Curaçao Police Force (KPC). The victims are a man who was driving the vehicle and a woman seated in the front passenger seat.

The crash occurred at 7:36 p.m. Preliminary police findings indicate that the driver, who was heading in the direction of Schottegatweg-Oost, lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. The car then crashed head-on into a tree.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, but paramedics were unable to save the victims. The police doctor later confirmed both deaths at the scene. The vehicle involved was a family-type passenger car.

The Traffic Police Department of the Curaçao Police Force is conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The road remained closed for an extended period while authorities processed the scene.
