WILLEMSTAD - In a festive atmosphere in the center of Marchena, the Christmas lights were turned on along the main road of Wishi and Marchena. Minister Sithree van Heydoorn and Patrick Newton, director of 2BAYS Curaçao, were present to inaugurate the lighting that will brighten the neighborhood. For many years, the residents of Wishi and Marchena have made an effort to decorate the main street of the neighborhood, which is part of Schottegat West. After approximately 10 years, the Christmas lights were renovated and are now expected to have a positive impact on the neighborhood’s environment. This marks the third time the neighborhood officially turns on its holiday lights.

Patrick Newton, director of 2BAYS Curaçao, expressed that as part of their corporate responsibility, it is always a pleasure for 2BAYS to give back to the community, particularly to the neighborhoods of Wishi and Marchena.
The lighting has a specific goal, which is to bring a festive atmosphere during social, cultural, and national activities. These lights will not be limited to just the end-of-year season.
The lights begin at Misa di Wishi and end at the light pole at the entrance of Missouriweg, better known as Toko Funchal. The neighborhood residents reused the same installations as before, adding a few extra meters of decorations to form a beautiful light display.
Representatives of the Wishi and Marchena neighborhoods, Mr. Kenneth Valpoort and Sharlon Monte, indicated that this gesture is always greatly appreciated by the community.
