Tumba Festival 2024 in Curaçao promises grand innovations

Local | By Correspondent December 21, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The 52nd edition of the Curaçao Tumba Festival will feature a multitude of innovations this year. Key changes include the implementation of a new QR code system for ticket control, a redesign of the food court, and a special app that allows fans to vote during the final night, as reported by the organization led by the Association of Musicians and Artists of Curaçao (AMAK).

Another noteworthy innovation is the introduction of a dedicated streaming platform, 'Nos Tumba,' to cover the rising organizational costs, which have increased by 40%. This platform will also include pay-per-view (PPV) options.

Theme

This year's theme, 'Nos Playanan' (Our Beaches), will be prominently featured in the design and decoration of the festival. The organization states that this theme is a deliberate choice to further promote the unique cultural and natural beauty of Curaçao, especially in an era where social media and streaming play a more significant role.

Community engagement is also a crucial focus. AMAK invites all band managers, arrangers, composers, and singers to optimize their preparations for a successful presentation during the festival. Furthermore, the younger generation is specifically encouraged to participate, with their involvement considered crucial for the festival's future.

The largest and longest-running music festival in Curaçao will take place from January 22 to 26. Participant registrations begin on January 14.
