TUI to swap Americas capacity from Florida to Curaçao in summer 2020

AMSTERDAM - The Dutch TUI fly stops flying between Schiphol and Florida. The flights to Miami and Orlando will be scratched from the timetable next year, making extra capacity available on the popular Curaçao route.

At this moment the Miami and Orlando routes are being operated twice a week. "The competition there is very high. That is why we choose to offer Florida via Delta Air Lines in the summer,” says Luc Lentjes, Director Product & Yield at TUI Benelux, in the Aviation News Magazine.

In practice, this means that TUI passengers can choose from a daily flight to Orlando and two flights a week to Tampa, which means there is a choice of multiple lengths of stay. Discussions are still being held with partner KLM about a possible collaboration on the Miami route.

More Curaçao

The change may increase the number of non-stop flights to Curaçao. “We are going to nine flights a week from May, five of which are offered non-stop. That is two non-stop flights more than before," says Lentjes.

In the Caribbean, TUI fly also offers Bonaire (four times a week) and Aruba (three times a week). Sint Maarten is also offered by TUI, but via the existing KLM flights.

The frequency to Paramaribo, which went up to two weekly flights in the winter, is also maintained at that level in the summer.
