WILLEMSTAD, AMSTERDAM - Dutch tour operator TUI will fly 18 times per week between Amsterdam and Curaçao during the upcoming Christmas holiday period, marking an all-time high in flight frequency between the Netherlands and the island.
“The demand for this little piece of the Netherlands in the Caribbean is incredibly high,” said TUI Managing Director Arjan Kers. “During the holidays, we’ll be flying almost three times a day between Amsterdam and Curaçao.”
TUI had already announced an increase in flights for the winter season — from 14 to 17 weekly flights between December 17 and March 24. The Christmas weeks will now see an additional flight, bringing the total to 18 per week to meet the surge in travel demand.
According to Kers, Curaçao continues to grow in popularity among Dutch travelers, especially as a warm-weather destination for the holiday season. “Many people love spending the holidays in the Antilles,” he noted. “Curaçao has positioned itself very well as a destination — and we’re seeing particularly strong interest from the Dutch market.”
The expansion also follows a request from the Curaçao government to increase flight capacity. “By adding more flights, we can help keep ticket prices stable and ensure it doesn’t become too expensive for people traveling home,” said Kers. “But as always, the earlier you book, the better the price.”
TUI will use a Boeing 787 Dreamliner for the extra flights — an aircraft previously deployed on the company’s Brussels–Curaçao route. “With some creative scheduling, we managed to further expand the number of flights,” Kers added.
The record flight schedule underscores Curaçao’s status as one of the most sought-after Caribbean destinations for Dutch travelers, driven by its strong cultural ties, tropical climate, and festive holiday atmosphere.
