WILLEMSTAD - A tropical wave currently located a few hundred miles east of the ABC islands is moving west. According to the Meteorological Service Curaçao (Meteo), there is a high probability that the system will develop into a tropical storm in the next five days.
The low pressure area is developing faster than expected, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). The tropical wave has an 80 percent chance of developing further in the next five days.
The system is expected to move over the region in the coming days, which according to weather services will cause showers and thunderstorms in Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire. If the depression develops into a tropical storm, it will be named Gaston.
