Tropical depression strengthens

WILLEMSTAD - The tropical wave located west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands is gaining strength. Currently, AL95, as referred to by the hurricane center in Miami, is causing disorganized rain and thunderstorms.

Environmental conditions are expected to be favorable for the development of this system. The hurricane center anticipates that the system could become a tropical depression or tropical storm this weekend, as it moves westward at a speed of 25 to 30 kilometers per hour, several hundred kilometers east of the islands.

The chance of formation within 48 hours is moderate, with a probability of 40 percent. However, over a period of seven days, this probability significantly increases to 70 percent.
