THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - On 23 January 2019 large national demonstrations were announced by the opposition and the government. These can lead to confrontations and violence. Therefore, avoid demonstrations.

The border region of Venezuela with Colombia and Brazil is unsafe. This is due to protests, roadblocks, armed groups and criminal smuggling networks around the mining regions.

There are also sometimes confrontations with the army. Do not travel to the border with Colombia and Brazil. The south side of Lake Maracaibo is also unsafe. Do not travel to this area. Medical facilities are minimum throughout the country and petrol is difficult to obtain.
