WILLEMSTAD - Authorities were alerted on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, about a missing individual at Marichi Beach, as reported by the Police Central.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a group of young people had gone for a swim, and as they were leaving the area, they discovered that one person was unaccounted for.
Despite an extensive search in the vicinity, the missing young person could not be located.
On the following day, Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at approximately 06:52 in the morning, the Police Central received information indicating the presence of a lifeless body in the waters off Marichi Beach.
With the valuable assistance of the Coast Guard, the lifeless body was successfully recovered from the sea.
At around 08:50, the police doctor officially confirmed the tragic demise of the young person, identified as Lehandro Deijando Cuales, born on December 18, 2008, in Curaçao. This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and the need for heightened awareness during beach activities.
