Traffic Check Turns Chaotic in Punda After Woman Insults Police

WILLEMSTAD – A routine traffic control in Punda escalated on Saturday when a woman began verbally abusing police officers, according to a statement issued by the Curaçao Police Force (KPC).

The woman, who was driving without a license, was stopped by the police Bike Team and issued a fine. She was also prohibited from continuing to drive. When officers suggested that another passenger take the wheel, the woman responded by shouting insults at the police.

One of the officers remained calm during the confrontation but took little action, a response that drew criticism on social media after a video of the incident was circulated online.

In its statement, the KPC described the woman's behavior as unacceptable and emphasized that respect for law enforcement is essential. The police also stressed the importance of cooperation between officers and the public to ensure safety and noted that abusive conduct will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The incident has reignited discussion about public attitudes toward police and the challenges officers face in maintaining order during daily patrols.
