BOGOTA, CARACAS - The border between Venezuela and Colombia has reopened to trade. This is reported by the NOS. For the first time in seven years, freight traffic is allowed again between Colombia and Venezuela.
Ties between the two countries were strengthened when leftist Gustavo Petro became Colombia's new president earlier this year. The reopening of the borders was an election promise from the new Colombian socialist president.
The transition is open to freight traffic every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Commercial aviation between the two countries will also be resumed shortly.
