Tourism Remains Backbone of Curaçao’s Economic Growth

Local, Economy, | By Correspondent March 30, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Tourism continues to be the main driver of Curaçao’s economic expansion, according to the Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten (CBCS) .

In 2025, stronger-than-expected tourism performance, including both stay-over and cruise visitors, contributed significantly to economic growth. The sector also stimulated activity in transport, trade, and construction.

Looking ahead to 2026, tourism is expected to remain a key pillar of growth, with increased international visibility—partly linked to Curaçao’s qualification for the World Cup—supporting demand.

The central bank notes that continued investment in tourism infrastructure and services will be essential to sustain this momentum.
