WILLEMSTAD - The Dutch research institute TNO is highlighting its significant role in addressing "mobility poverty" on Curaçao, showcasing its approach and the recently launched pilot project on its website.
"With improvements in accessibility across various parts of the island, we anticipate a decrease in mobility poverty. Additionally, we aim to see more motorists opting for public transport due to the upgrade, thereby contributing to a cleaner and more accessible island," states TNO researcher Bart van der Poel.
TNO Business Developer Jacqueline Verbeek-Nijhof emphasizes the pride in the collaborative efforts established. "We are particularly proud of the partnerships we have fostered. The involvement of VVRP, UoC, AMC Bus Company, and the police illustrates a unified approach towards addressing mobility issues. This collaboration signifies a shift towards decision-making based on data and evidence-driven scenarios."
The institute's commitment to addressing mobility challenges underscores its dedication to improving the quality of life on the island. The pilot project's success could serve as a model for other regions facing similar issues, demonstrating the effectiveness of collaborative efforts and data-driven decision-making.
