WILLEMSTAD - In collaboration with the Caribbean Coast Guard, the police arrested thirteen individuals found in possession of firearms who had illegally arrived on the island. On Friday, the Coast Guard received a report of a boat stranded on the rocks at Hambrak, on the east side of the island.

The Maritime Operations Center and the Coast Guard, in cooperation with officers from the Montana station, launched a search operation. During the morning, six persons were located and apprehended. Additionally, a bag containing firearms was discovered.
Subsequently, the coast guard helicopter was deployed, resulting in the arrest of seven more individuals in the afternoon.
In total, seven men and six women, including a minor, were apprehended. Some of them had previously attempted to reach Curaçao, but were returned to their country. Among them was a woman convicted of human trafficking.
The thirteen non-residents have been handed over to the police and immigration authorities. The police are investigating the case.
