WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN) wants to protect thirty percent of the waters around Curaçao. This was announced by the ministry following the visit to the conference 'Our Ocean'.

Former minister Dorothy Pietersz-Janga recently visited the conference in Panama. The conference aims to raise awareness of the importance of a healthy and productive ocean for future generations.

With this in mind, in addition to protecting the waters around the island, GMN also wants to strengthen the fishing industry and raise maritime awareness through education.

“The minister has agreed with regional policy representatives and people from non-governmental organizations to cooperate more,” GMN said.
