The Hidden Green Movement launches a new campaign: six Curaçaoan farmers in the spotlight

Local | By Correspondent March 27, 2025

WILLEMSTAD — The Hidden Green Movement proudly announces the launch of its new campaign, highlighting six Curaçaoan farmers on a monthly basis. With financial support from the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), The Hidden Green Movement will present a new farmer each month, starting on March 29, 2025.

These agricultural entrepreneurs play a crucial role in promoting sustainable local farming and reducing Curaçao’s dependence on imported food. By sharing their stories and products with readers of local newspapers, social media channels, and the website www.thehiddengreenmovement.com, the campaign aims to raise consumer awareness about the benefits of locally grown food.

“Farmers do the most important work on earth—don’t forget that you need to eat every day,” says Berber van Beek, who, together with Reina Keijzers, initiated the project. “By supporting local agriculture, we are investing in a resilient and sustainable future for Curaçao.”

Consumers who choose local products benefit from fresh produce, reduced packaging waste and transportation costs, and contribute to a better society and a healthier planet. Supermarkets can use the free ‘Kumpra Lokal - Buy Local’ logo, which indicates locally produced goods—making it even easier to choose these products.
