WILLEMSTAD - The Corps Consulaire Curacao (CCC), in collaboration with the Downtown Management Organization (DMO) an organization devoted to revitalizing and promoting the vibrancy of Punda, recently hosted an exciting initiative during the 10/10 celebration.

This event marked Curaçao's establishment as a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and provided a unique opportunity for participating consulates to showcase their culture and cuisine, celebrating our island's diversity. Given Curaçao's rich, multicultural roots, it was only fitting that this celebration highlighted the many cultures that contribute to our identity as a global melting pot; an identity marked by tolerance and unity on the world stage.
The MultiCulti Event
For the day, CCC transformed Hanchi Snoa into a multicultural street filled with food stands, dance, music, and art from various countries with strong ties to Curaçao.
This vibrant gathering raised ANG 5,837.00 which CCC proudly donated to the "Uniting for Children Foundation" to benefit local orphanages and other non-profits supporting children in need on our beloved Dushi Korsow. The donation was formally presented during our Annual UN Day Youth Speech Contest at Thomas Restaurant, where attendees enjoyed a delightful luncheon prepared by Chef Thomas, one of Curaçao's finest.
Donating Countries and Contributions
The contributions from our participating consulates and country organizations not only enriched the celebration but also demonstrated the generosity and kindness that define Curaçao. Below are the Consulates and Organization who contributed:
- India – IMANA Group - Nicky
- Mexico – Hon. Consulate of Mexico, Hon. Consul Ralph Obersi (Dean)
- China – Consulate of China, CG Li YiGang
- Jamaica – Hon. Consulate of Jamaica, Hon. Consul Kurt Jamaica (Treasurer)
- United States – United States Consulate General, Head of Mission John McNamara
- Dominican Republic – Consulate of the Dominican Republic, Consul General Maria Luisa Ubiera Zorilla
Several countries also contributed regional artistic presentations, including Jamaican reggae bands, Mexican mariachi performances, Indian dance, and Dominican music and dance. These performances, along with Chinese cultural displays, created a lively, colorful atmosphere along the street. In addition, art articles were sold at stands, including those gifted by the Hon. Consulate of Brazil, adding to the street's vibrancy.
A Special Thank You
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the consulates, organizations, and individuals who participated in and supported this event. Their dedication, generosity, and hard work made the day a success and benefited both the DMO and the Uniting for Children Foundation. A special thanks to our major sponsor, EWT, for their commitment to being an even bigger contributor to next year's event in 2025.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration a memorable success. We congratulate all involved for their efforts and look forward to future celebrations!
