WILLEMSTAD - In the context of the ongoing renovation works at Plasa Nobo, the businesses currently located in the Plasa will be temporarily relocated to another site. This step is crucial to ensure their safety and accelerate the pace of the works. Continuing the sale of products and services by these businesses during the renovation period is of great importance to them.
The Marshe Foundation, in close collaboration and consultation with the businesses in Plasa, will handle the planning for this temporary relocation. Once the details regarding the timing of the relocation and the location of the temporary establishment are finalized, the information will be widely shared with the public of Curaçao and the tourist organizations.
Unforeseen circumstances
The renovation of Plasa Nobo is an important project that contributes to modernization, improvement of hygiene, and increased safety for both users and visitors of the Plasa. The agreement for the renovation works was signed with Jemar Building & Construction Management N.V. on March 21, following a public tender at the end of 2022. This renovation includes, among other things, the replacement of all pillars in the building, a task that was not foreseen at the start of the project but proves to be essential for the stability and safety of the building.
Plasa Nobo, with its unique design and central location in Punda, is a vital part of the city center. Since its opening in 1975, the building has not received the necessary maintenance, leading to poor conditions including the roof, pillars, concrete work, and electrical installations. The current works aim to urgently address these issues, making the Plasa not only safer but also more attractive.
