WILLEMSTAD - The Tax Authority will pre-fill a section of the 2023 income tax declaration to prevent errors and expedite the process, as announced by the Ministry of Finance.
The income tax declaration will include pre-filled information, such as wage data from employers' collective income statements.
The decision to pre-fill stems from the government's observation that individuals frequently make mistakes when transcribing wage information from the income tax card. Such errors lead to processing failures in income tax declarations, causing delays in the disbursement of refunds.
The Tax Authority specifies that individuals have until March 1 to fulfill their obligations. Starting April 1, 2024, the tax authority will provide the pre-filled declaration. People are required to review the pre-filled information, supplement or correct it as needed, and pay attention to the absence of crib numbers.
Additionally, the ministry announces that employers who submit the collective income statement for 2024 late will face fines of 5,000 guilders.
