Tax Authority of Curaçao launches new digital dashboard

Local | By Correspondent October 10, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The Tax Authority in Curaçao has implemented a new digital dashboard designed to enhance the efficiency and transparency of their work processes, according to the Ministry of Finance.

The platform, developed using Microsoft Power BI, is primarily aimed at improving information flow within the department. Previously, employees and managers did not always have adequate visibility into essential data, such as workloads, processing times, and individual performance.

Microsoft Power BI is a business analytics toolset that enables users to collect, process, and visualize data from various sources and share those visualizations with others.

Power BI allows for the creation of interactive reports and dashboards that provide insights into large datasets. The platform includes both desktop and cloud-based versions and is popular among business analysts and decision-makers for its user-friendliness and robust data analysis capabilities.

What makes this implementation unique is that bailiffs now have a clear overview of their priorities and can compare their performance with previous periods using this dashboard. It also provides insight into the average processing time for their tasks. Managers benefit by gaining a better understanding of their team members' activities and results, allowing them to steer more effectively.

After its introduction to the bailiff's office, the dashboard will be rolled out to other departments, including "special collection" and the tax inspection. These tools assist the departments in better prioritizing tasks, monitoring tax obligations, and reducing the processing time for filings.

The Ministry emphasizes the importance of transparency toward the public. With the dashboards, the Tax Authority aims to provide citizens with better insight into their processes and demonstrate active efforts to optimize their services.

According to the Ministry, this digital innovation within the bailiff's office marks the beginning of a broader initiative to digitize and improve processes within the Tax Authority.
