Tax Authority falls behind in issuing income tax assessments

Local | By Correspondent October 27, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The tax authority has a large number of income tax declarations yet to process. This includes assessments to be issued up to the year 2022 and previous years.

According to agreements with the head of the Tax Inspection, as many of these assessments as possible should be issued before the end of the year.

However, recent production figures reveal a substantial backlog. The goal of issuing as many income tax assessments as possible and clearing the work backlog may not be met.

The Tax Authority has been asked to clear most of the work backlog by January 1. By October 31, the Ministry of Finance expects a detailed plan from the Tax Authority outlining how they will address these delays in the coming months.
