Sustainable initiatives in Curaçao now digitally accessible and registrable

Local | By Press release August 16, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Club17, the powerful partnership of organizations led by the D-TAP Foundation, takes the next step on the roadmap towards 2035. On Monday, August 7, 2023, the official launch of the 'Club 17 SDG tracker' app took place. Prime Minister Gilmar 'Pik' Pisas officially conducted the first app download during the annual partner meeting at the Avila hotel.

The members take pride in their revolutionary mobile application, designed by Caribbeapps. With this app, it is possible to locate and connect all sustainable initiatives in Curaçao.

Richard Benoit (founder of Caribbeapps) states: "We are pleased to showcase our social contribution to the Curaçao community and truly make sustainable living common knowledge and practice. We will continue to create relevant apps to demonstrate that technology is a key facilitator."

From now on, the general public can find and register sustainable initiatives through the app quickly and easily via the Club17 SDG tracker. The app provides explanations, a map of Curaçao with all recycling stations, the ability to register events and initiatives, as well as news articles.

Lara Melkert, coordinator of Club17, is enthusiastic about the app: "I consider this launch a crucial milestone in pinpointing the SDGs in Curaçao. Now, sustainable initiatives can sign up. This allows us to gain more insight into what is already being done on the island. Now, we can proceed strategically and take concrete steps towards a sustainable future. Collaboration is the key to success. The Club17 app embodies this partnership and is a powerful starting point to achieve our 2035 goal."

An important and unique aspect of the app is that all steps and actions of Club17 are shared with the government's national SDG committee. This ensures that everyone has insight and an overview of all sustainable initiatives focused on socio-cultural development, climate protection, and Club 17 aims to shape this vision. (Transforming Curaçao into a safe, resilient, and most sustainable island in the Caribbean).

"Creating a sustainable future for Curaçao with shared ambition can only be done together. Collaboration is success, and the Club17 app is the first tangible joint result and a great start to achieving the 2035 goal," says Kris Bouwstra (CCO Dynaf).

The launch of the Club17 app marks a new era of collaboration and sustainability in Curaçao. Anyone wishing to contribute to the island's sustainable development is encouraged to download the app and participate in this wonderful initiative.

The Club17 app is available for free on both iOS and Android and can be downloaded via the App Store and Google Play Store. For more information about Club17 and sustainable initiatives, visit Club17 Curacao | Dtapfoundation
