Surinamese President Santokhi arrives in Curaçao for official visit

WILLEMSTAD - Surinamese President Chan Santokhi arrived in Curaçao this morning for an official visit. Following his trip to Aruba on Monday, he will spend today and tomorrow on the island. This marks the first time a president of the Republic of Suriname has made an official visit to Curaçao. 

The visit aims to promote and deepen regional cooperation in areas such as trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. Upon his arrival at the airport, President Santokhi laid a wreath at the statue of Surinamese national Louis Alfred Gerardus Doedel located at Kolebra Bèrdè. 

Later this morning, President Santokhi will sign a "Framework Agreement for a Partial Scope Trade Agreement" between Curaçao and Suriname. The agreement will also be signed by Surinamese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations, Albert Ramdin, and Curaçao's Minister of Economic Development, Charles Cooper.
