Surinam Airways not permitted to board passengers for flights between Curaçao and Aruba

PARAMARIBO - Suriname's national airline, Surinam Airways, is expanding its route network, including flights between Curaçao and Aruba. However, the airline is not authorized to board passengers solely flying between Willemstad and Oranjestad.

Surinam Airways is in the midst of a noteworthy expansion of its services. With the addition of a second Boeing 737-800 to its fleet, the airline will operate flights from Paramaribo to Miami, with layovers in Guyana, Aruba, and Curaçao on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, starting from December 18.

In contrast to its 2019 services, where Surinam Airways offered separate flights to Curaçao via Trinidad and to Miami via Aruba, the new schedule provides more flexibility in booking options.

Passengers can now book various combinations, such as from Paramaribo to Miami or from Curaçao to Suriname. However, flight segments between Curaçao and Aruba are not available for booking, and passengers must rely on smaller carriers operating on that route, such as EZ-air and Divi Divi.

In addition to Miami, Surinam Airways is also resuming its non-stop service between Paramaribo and Belem in Brazil, starting on December 13, with flights on Wednesdays and Fridays. The 1-hour and 45-minute flight lands just before midnight in Belem and returns shortly after midnight the next day, with return flights on Thursdays and Sundays from December 14.

Furthermore, Barbados is returning to Surinam Airways' network with a bi-weekly service from Suriname, making a stop in Georgetown, Guyana. This service begins on December 20 and will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays in both directions.

Finally, Surinam Airways has announced plans to expand its transfer operations from Guyana with additional flights to destinations in North America and Europe.
